1. Can you tell us your name and what you do?
My name is UCHECHI JULIET IBEH. I am a multifaceted creative educator, Voiceover Artist, Writer, Social Media Manager, Video Editor, Creative Photographer, and an upcoming 3D animator
2. What unique strengths do you bring to the YAPPI program and how will you leverage them to make the most of the opportunity?
My experience allows me to bring a unique perspective and a strong foundation to YAPPI. I can create engaging social media content to promote myself as an animator. My voiceover and audio editing skills can bring animation projects to life, while my video editing and photography expertise can help assemble, enhance, and polish the final product. By combining these strengths, I'm confident I can make a significant contribution to YAPPI. I'm eager to learn from experienced professionals and collaborate with fellow YAPPIans to create high-quality animation projects.
3. The YAPPI program will be over the next six months, how do you envision your personal and professional growth?
The YAPPI program offers a springboard for my animation career. I'm excited to learn the entire animation process and hone my artistic voice through collaboration with talented peers and professionals. The program's structure and guidance will help me develop strong technical skills and transform me from a versatile creative into a well-rounded animation professional.
4. In what ways do you plan to collaborate with your peers in the YAPPI program to create a supportive and dynamic learning environment?
In the YAPPI program, I believe collaboration is key to a successful and enriching learning experience. I'll foster a supportive and dynamic environment by actively sharing my knowledge (content creation, social media, storytelling) and being eager to learn others' animation and post-production skills. As a strong team player, I'll actively participate, offer constructive feedback, celebrate successes, and readily assist others, creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
5. What specific skills do you hope to gain from YAPPI, and how do you plan to apply them in your professional and academic pursuits?
My interest in animation during YAPPI has shifted to post-production, particularly video editing, compositing, motion graphics, and sound design. I aim to master industry-standard editing software to assemble animation sequences, add effects, and synchronize audio. These skills will allow me to create professional animation projects, social media content, and potentially freelance video editing jobs.
6. What legacy do you hope to leave behind within the YAPPI community after completing the program, and how will you measure your impact?
My vision for YAPPI extends beyond personal growth. I want to leave a legacy of collaboration and shared passion for animation. I'll actively promote open communication and teamwork, fostering a positive environment where everyone feels valued. Building connections with fellow participants can lead to lasting friendships and future collaborations, extending the program's impact.
7. As a YAPPIan, how do you see yourself shaping the future of animation and the post-production industry?
My YAPPI experience will equip me with a skill set to contribute to diverse and inclusive animation in Africa while promoting ethical practices and a strong animation community.
