Orientation and On-boarding Week: YAPPI 2.0 On-site Class Begins
The much-anticipated YAPPI 2.0 is here! The Youth Animation and Post-Production Initiative, powered by Del-York Creative Academy in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, opens a golden gateway for young creatives across Lagos, Enugu, and Abuja to sharpen their skills, unleash their creativity, and step boldly into the vibrant world of animation and post-production.
This third cohort of the YAPPI initiative marks another significant stride toward training 60,000 animators in Nigeria. These animators are poised to leave an indelible mark on the creative economy while channeling the passion and energy of storytellers into meaningful contributions across diverse sectors.
To ensure a seamless transition into the onsite phase of this groundbreaking initiative, we’ve curated a transformative orientation and onboarding Week—a gateway experience designed to set the tone for an incredible journey ahead. Here’s a glimpse into the highlights:
Orientation and Onboarding Week: More Than a Formality
This week-long event is not merely about logistics—it’s the bridge that connects theory to practice. It ensures that participants are well-prepared to transform the knowledge gained during the online phase into tangible skills. Here’s what unfolded during this pivotal week:
1. Collection of ID Cards
Participants received their official YAPPI ID cards—a passport to a realm of creativity, collaboration, and limitless opportunities. These cards are more than identification; they symbolize commitment to their creative journey and the exciting future that awaits.
2. Orientation Sessions
The orientation sessions introduced participants to the YAPPI 2.0 framework, objectives, and expectations. With a deep dive into the program structure, resources, and strategies for success, participants gained clarity on how to maximize their experience. It was also a chance to build connections with trainers, mentors, and peers who will be their companions on this creative journey.
3. Calendar Plan Overview
An integral part of the onboarding experience was the detailed walkthrough of the program calendar. Participants were guided through the course timelines, key milestones, and deliverables, giving them a clear roadmap to navigate their journey with confidence and purpose.
The orientation and onboarding week also featured enriching interactions with industry experts and key facilitators who brought a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.
Mrs. Obehi Anuge, the Country Project Manager of YAPPI, who led the onboarding process with precision and dedication, ensuring the event set the right foundation for success, as well as
Dr. Mariam of PWD, a consultant in the creative sector, shared invaluable insights into the animation and post-production landscape. Her perspectives highlighted the relevance of these skills beyond the creative sector, touching the corporate world, business, and the global economy.
Another key facilitator was Mr. Kenny Olukoga, the placement coordinator for YAPPI Lagos, who provided a warm welcome and a detailed overview of the placement opportunities and career pathways available to participants.
What’s Next? A Transformative Journey Begins
With the orientation and onboarding week behind them, participants are now fully prepared to embark on the onsite physical training phase. This immersive experience promises to equip them with industry-relevant skills, hands-on expertise, and the tools they need to excel in the competitive world of animation and post-production.
The excitement surrounding YAPPI 2.0 is electric, and the possibilities it unlocks are endless.
Welcome to YAPPI 2.0. The stage is set, the spotlight is on, and the journey begins now. We look forward to creating magic!
